In 1957, Peter Walker’s U.K.-based Acoustical Manufacturing Company announced production of the world’s first full-range electrostatic speaker. It was called the Quad Electrostatic Loudspeaker and sold for £52 pounds. The ESL was designed for monophonic reproduction but later modified to improve its dispersion for stereo. Awarded greatest HiFi product of all time by HiFi News in 2000, the Quad ESL delivers some of the most natural, open-sounding mid-band (especially on vocals) you're ever likely to hear.

RV HIFI Says:
These QUAD ESL57 loudspeakers in bronze from 1972-73 have been part of our collection for many years and have been a long time favorite, unfortunately you can't keep everything and now it's time for a new home. John Hall, who is an expert on restoring the QUAD's worked on these over 10 years ago and occasionally have been in and out of storage for our listening pleasure. Condition is good, the bronze aluminum panels and woodwork do have some age marks, otherwise they are quiet presentable to the eye. Sound quality is superb, vocals are truly amazing!
